Cruelty Free vs Vegan Makeup: Know the differences

Cruelty-free and Vegan are terms that are increasingly used in recent years. A lot of people might think they mean the same because they are usually used in the same texts, but there are differences: Cruelty-free makeup means  that the makeup products are never tested on animal , and Vegan makeup means that the makeup products ingredients are not animal derived. 

Four existing labels of makeup products:

1. Makeup that is Cruelty-Free and Vegan: not tested on animals and no animals products or ingredients;
2. Makeup that is Cruelty-Free but not Vegan: not tested on animals but contain animal-derived ingredients or by-products;
3. Makeup that is Vegan but Not Cruelty-Free: no animal derived  products or ingredients but may have been tested on animals;
4. Makeup that is neither Vegan or Cruelty-Free: tested on animals and may have animal-derived ingredients or by-products. This is your worst choice.
